In Remembrance of Dixie (1981-2004).
Laila Mayes, a young trainer and Morgan enthusiast, is one of our most loyal and constant donors. Laila’s inspiration for JMARE is her beloved Morgan friend, Dixie (Michland Flowerfield by Schoolmaster out of Michland Meadow). Dixie (pictured here with Laila) was foaled in 1981 and passed through a number of hands before she found Laila in 1998. Dixie took Laila to 4-H high point hunter, many successful shows and on many trail rides. Together they logged 150 hours in AMHA’s Morgan Pathways program. Laila dearly loved Dixie and pampered her for the last six years of Dixie’s life. Dixie was lucky to have found Laila. Laila was blessed to have found Dixie. Laila has a soft spot in her heart for the old horses who need love and pampering. When she read of Tillie and Angel, Laila responded with a donation. She has been donating to their care, and the care of all our residents ever since. THANK YOU LAILA AND DIXIE! You are our inspiration.
Special Acknowledgments
Our Stallion Services Donors: The donation of a stallion’s service is a significant contribution. These stallions are a major investment of their owners’ time, money and passion. Their stud fees are a return on that investment. Donating a stallion service is not only a financial contribution but also one of time. If live cover, there is the management of the mare; if AI, there is the collection and shipment; in all cases there are numerous communications and paperwork between stallion owner and mare owner. So, when a stallion owner donates a stud service to JMARE, that owner is not just giving away a significant amount of money. That owner is donating a year’s commitment of time and followup to fulfilling that service. JMARE does not take this commitment lightly. To each of our contributors goes our heartfelt appreciation.
